2020-2021

The Xylotymbou Gymnasium used funds from the Tiganokinisi programme to purchase Temtop air quality meters in order to conduct research on the quality of indoor air at school and in homes where activities such as cooking and the use of scented candles take place. The measured factors include formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds, PM2.5 and PM10 particulate matter, the total number of particles, as well as humidity.

Through this research, students had the opportunity to better understand how outdoor air pollution and air quality deterioration in indoor environments affect human behaviour, productivity, and especially health. In addition, students developed skills in conducting research projects, which contributed to their active citizenship.
