Aradippou Gymnasium used funds raised through the Tiganokinisi programme to purchase plants, flowerpots, paint, irrigation hoses, decorative stones, and potting soil. These initiatives support biodiversity enhancement, the beautification of the school grounds, and students’ education in environmental best practices and sustainable development. εξωραϊσμό του σχολικού χώρου και την εκπαίδευση των μαθητών σε καλές περιβαλλοντικές πρακτικές και αειφόρο ανάπτυξη.
The paint was used to refurbish old flowerpots, while the plants were used to create herb gardens, rose gardens, and cactus gardens. Additional flowerpots were placed at the school entrance to enhance its appearance, and a garden of flowering plants was established to attract butterflies, which play an important role as pollinators. Decorative gravel was used to improve the garden’s appearance, while the irrigation hose supports the maintenance and watering of the plants.
The school participates in three environmental programmes: **Eco-Schools**, **SEMEP UNESCO**, and **GLOBAL**. Through these programmes, students have been actively involved in creating and maintaining the gardens. For eight months, they have voluntarily cared for these green spaces, contributing to the enhancement and preservation of the school’s biodiversity.
The school will continue its environmental initiatives through the Tiganokinisi programme, as well as through the recycling of paper, plastic, aluminium, and batteries. At the same time, composting activities and olive cultivation for the production of organic olive oil will continue. In addition, old flowerpots will be reused for new plantings, further strengthening students’ environmental education through their active participation in all of these sustainability projects.
